Data Analytics Excel VBA Tableau Visualization by Tim BrydenHi, my name is Tim Bryden.

Effective data strategy to discover unique insights and unlock value in your business can mean the difference between success and failure.

Winning a bid, keeping a client, improving utilization and productivity. All of these require decisions. Strategies to generate insights from good quality data and making them available to the right person at the right time will generate significant value.

I've spent over two decades working in businesses across Finance, Operations, and IT.

I've been in the trenches, and I've sat in the big chair with full business and P&L responsibilities. The constants have always been dealing with people, change, technology and data. I'm a data nerd who enjoys creating useful, actionable insights from data, empowering people, and embracing change.

My P&L Management and Commercial experience, along with an MBA and qualifications in Accounting and Computer Science, often see me acting as the bridge between Finance, IT, and Business. When these areas combine effectively, the results can amaze everyone.

In my experience, many businesses are only touching the surface when it comes to utilising core technologies and unlocking the potential of data. They struggle to get the right information in front of the right people at the right time and often don't know what that right information is. Data strategy in many cases is effectively non-existent, and the approach to finding actionable insight is often haphazard, random, or simply not happening.

Most high-value data is readily accessible. So much potential exists.

With the right questions, the right tools, and the right approach, the likelihood of discovering a game-changing insight or empowering others to do so dramatically increases.  Given my finance background and time heading up Finance for both large and smaller businesses, I'm also a strong advocate for Finance departments having advanced FP&A or XP&A functions, their own cloud-based data warehouse to support this, and the automation of key processes to generate near-live reporting to support data insights.   This is not just talk.  Through my consulting firm Brydens BI I actively support the Finance and Data teams of a diverse range of listed and large private companies.  At Brydens BI we were an early AI adopter, running our first Machine Learning models in 2020.   As AI has advanced, we've also sought to democratise it by launching AI Forecasting in Excel via the ForesightXL Excel Add-in.  ForesightXL makes use of the ForesightXL Five Factor Forecast Framework (5Fs), which provides an excellent structure for Finance teams or business leaders to easily explore different forecast results based on business context.

This site focuses on widely available tools for manipulating and visualising data and strategies for unlocking insights.

Enjoy
